There Are Many Famous People With Manic Depression

Surprisingly enough, there are many famous people with manic depression. There are certainly more people around than many of us know who have been affected by depression. One of the major issues with depression is that we often think we're all alone. Famous people with manic depression and depression are out there. It's not just you and the rest of the "ordinary" people who suffer.
The reality is that those with some of the most creative and artistic minds suffer from depression and some physicians have tried to connect that personality type, with a bent toward depression. If you're suffering from depression or you have considered that you might be depressed, then you are certainly in very good company.
Many of the most creative and the most intelligent people on earth have suffered from depression, manic depression, or bipolar disorder at one point or another in their life. The secret to continuing, to moving forward in many cases is to get some help dealing with something that may be too difficult to deal with alone.
Depression can affect anyone. Simply having plenty of money, or a lot of friends, or a great deal of support, does not mean that you will never suffer from depression. While it may be slightly uncomfortable for many of us to admit that we have a mental disorder, it's no different from any other garden variety of illness. You can treat it effectively, and you should! Talking to someone about your feelings is the first step in getting the help that you may need to manage your depression. Seeking out help is the first step toward conquering your depression and getting back to enjoying your life. Still think it feels lonely?
Here are just a few of some of the famous people that you may know who have suffered from depression over long periods of time:
Russell Brand, actor and comedian
Kurt Cobain, musician and band member
Rosemary Clooney, actress and musician/singer
Patricia Cornwell, famous crime author
Richard Dreyfuss, actor and star of Jaws movies and Mr. Holland's Opus
Patty Duke Astin, actress and spokesperson
Carrie Fisher, Star Wars actress
Abbie Hoffman, Political activist
Jack Irons, Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers Musician
Kay Redfield Jamison, noted psychologist and Psychiatry professor of Johns Hopkins (tried to get a connection to creativity and bipolar disorder introduced into psychiatry)
Kerry Katona, Television celebrity and pop singer for Atomic Kitten Margot Kidder, Actress
Vivien Leigh, Actress

In some cases, their battles with depression were lost, resulting in death from drug overdoses and/or suicide. However, in most cases, these people got help, and went on to do amazing things with their lives and so can you! You can defeat your illness and enjoy life.

Famous Trojans

Once with the 2005 electoral ferment in Great Britain, a Trojan worked his way in users PC's, masked by a news report related to vice president Tony Blair.
So, a mail that circulated around Albion had as subject the following text:" Tony Blair's e-mail account has been hacked by BBC news". But as soon as a curious person would click on the respective link a Trojan would appear on his computer.
Unlike worms, the Trojan horse doesn't auto reproduce itself on the infected PC, but it disguises as something harmless, like a screensaver. Installed on the PC, the Trojan can capture passwords or user names or can allow a hacker to take over the respective PC.
The creators of the Trojan virus knew that many people were interested in news. When it came to the Tony Blair situation, the need for politic news that public manifested was exploited by the attackers, so they made use of Tony Blair's name to make some victims, according to Sophos.
The Tony Blair attempt wasn't the first time malicious codes creators made use of the British premier's name. Back in 2003, the PC worm Quarters-A contained a string against Blair's politics regarding the integration in the UN. Actually, the worm was after infected as many PCs as possible to facilitate a DOS attack against the site http://www.number-10.gov.uk, site where Tony Blair intentions and politics were clearly stated.
We probably have to deal with Trojans evey day and we don't even know it. But the good thing is that antivirus software detects then right away and that they are virtually harmless for our files, as they only offer backdoors to hackers but don't infect our files.

How to hack Windows 7

Windows 7 comes up with lot of features and utilities. This Windows hack better known as GodMode is a built in feature in Windows 7 that allow you to access all Windows utilities in one spot. This built in feature hasn't been yet advertised. To access this feature you just need to create a new folder and name it as GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
This will help open it up and you get access to the display options, backup or recovery, power management and many more options. This is very helpful for those users who forget where to access the defragmenter or the device manager. And if you are lucky you will find any other useful utility you never knew existed.
It's been quite a few years that Microsoft has tinkered with its Control Panel. Other hacks for windows 7 are easy and well know. If you want to get Windows vista style taskbar in your Windows 7 you just have to right click on the taskbar and select properties dialog. Then select the small icons checkboxes. When taskbar is full select combine which will give you same functionality as vista. You can easily unlock the hidden themes of the Windows 7 themes. Open the Explorer and go to C: Windowswinsxs and then press *. Theme into the search field or else use * on the number block. This will lead you to click me prompt. You can double click on the themes to install them.
To enable the quick launch bar in Windows 7 right click on the task bar and then select toolbars and go to new toolbar from menu. Then copy paste the following address in the address bar.

PayPal Hack - My PayPal Got Hacked And How I Got it Back

This is a story about how my PayPal account got hacked and how I got it back. I had an unlucky day but with a little tinge of lady luck's blessings which helped me to get back to square one. This story gives a good advice for all the PayPal account holders on earth.
Day 1 - 8.30 PM IST
I just logged in into my gmail account to check the emails, I was shocked to see 4 emails from PayPal. 1. Password Changed, 2. Payment sent to some email address 3. Bank accounts removed 4. Primary email address changed. Oh my God!, I had $X,XXX in PayPal balance. While I was seeing these emails my gmail also got logged out. When I tried to login again, it did not. The hacker watched my every move. My primary email ID was the one which I used for all my business and personal contacts and it had 14000 archived emails and chat conversations.
I was feeling like blindfolded and left in a unknown forest. I just could not believe that this had happened to me. I had Norton anti virus + norton internet security and Spyware doctor, both of them licensed versions!! I know all about fake emails and phishing stuffs, I never clicked on suspicious links.
I realized that... "You are safe only if no one targets to attack you."
After a few minutes, someone added me to Yahoo messenger and said 'Hi'. I guessed that it was the hacker and it was. The very first sentence he told me was 'Hi, don't worry, you will get back everything within 7 days' .. He told me that he was a good guy and this is the first time he hacked someone. He also told me that he was in real need of the funds and would return my funds within 7 days. I almost believed him. I told him to give back my gmail account and told him that it was very important to me, and to my surprise he gave it back. He asked me what password I needed for the new account and he set it. I logged in and changed the password again. I was happy that I got back my gmail but was still very uncomfortable about the feeling that someone had watched me for so long!!
I was late in the night, I was sleepy but I had to hold on. I backed up all my files in my iPod and did a system recovery. After 45 minutes, my PC was as good as new. I again changed all the passwords and got back to sleep at midnight.
Day 2 - 6.00 AM IST
I saw my friend was online. I chatted with him and told him the entire story. He scolded me that I have not responded in timely fashion. He was so sure that the hacker was no good and chatted with me to make sure I don't call PayPal. The hacker did not achieve that but however he delayed me by 10 hours. I spent nearly 30 minutes waiting for PayPal representative and then some one showed up. I told PayPal, the entire story and they listened carefully. They assured me that 'I will not be held responsible for unauthorized payments sent from my account'. I felt good but not very good, I was not so sure that I would get back the money. I did what I could have done and I needed to relax. I took rest from this issue.
Day 3 - 7 PM EST
I called PayPal again. It needs a ton of patience to get connected with them. It took a few minutes to spot my account. They told me that "Your fraudulent payments were reversed, did you check your account". I just jumped right there and was so happy. But I COULD NOT LOGIN into my PayPal because the password was not with me! :(
I was not able to reset my password because the hacker also changed the security questions! They advised me to send all the documents and they will help to recover the password.
After a few minutes the hacker came online again. And LOL what nerves he got!!.. He asked me to send the documents to him because he said my account got limited and needs to be unlocked!! I refrained myself from talking abusive words and just managed the situation and logged out.
Day 4 - 6 PM EST
I logged in into yahoo messenger and I saw that the hacker had left me an offline message. Wow! he got frustrated I guess. He left me the PayPal email and password. I logged in and viola! I went inside my PP. Lovely moment it was.. The balance was intact. The four fraudulent payments were reversed. The account was limited though. I just printed the fax cover sheet and sent them the docs.
Day 4 - 3 PM IST
I got an email that my PayPal account has been restored. I immediately went in and sent 4 big payments to my friends and family members. I could breathe now again!
Now whats next?.. everything is back to square one! Now that I have learnt a good lesson. If we think something like "This can never happen to me" you actually attract that situation and within a few days you realize it... the dream comes true.. even though its a bad dream in this case.
I contacted me friends and everyone told me that I need to kick out Norton and Spyware Doctor and buy Kaspersky because thats what is best in the market. I went to that site and reviewed their products. They had anti virus and Internet Security 7.0. The anti virus comes inbuilt within Internet Security and hence its enough to buy the latter one. For one year it costs around $60 and for 2 years its around $95. I just bought it right away and installed it, activated it. Again I changed all my important passwords.
Bottom line: If you think it wont happen to you, one day it will happen, and you will think about the day when you thought that it won't happen to you.
Now that I got my money back, but it may not happen all the time to all the people. You just need to be on top of it.
Good Luck!

Malware Types and Trends - About Trojans

Trojans
These days, we can see a dramatic upsurge computers infections with trojans, they are the preferred tools for hackers. As in the old legend with the Trojan Horse, this type of malware masquerades as a useful program or is hidden (binded) in a useful program, tricking the user to execute it, "as it is" or together with the program that carry it. A Trojan horse neither replicates nor copies itself, but the damages it brings to the computer are huge. Once installed in a system, it gives to the hacker the ability to download or upload and execute other malware in the compromised system, or ability to steal passwords, other documents, to change the settings, registry or to edit important system files like "hosts" file.
"Hosts" file exists in any Windows based system and is referenced prior to perform any DNS lookups. Editing this file can lead to phishing attacks or can stop the AntiViruses software connect to the update site. The file has not an extension but is a plain text file that can be viewed with Notepad and the original content of the file is this entry in a line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Adding a second line can map the URL address to another IP which can be a phishing site asking you for your login credentials or redirect you to an advertising site. For example this line: :x.x.x.x microsoft.com will redirect you to the IP x.x.x.x, when you type in your browser address "microsoft.com" and hit "Go". x.x.x.x can be an advertising site or another malicious site, you got the idea. A lot of computer users save the used passwords and usernames in the browsers Passwords Manager, every modern browser ask you to save the used password if you want to. These passwords are encrypted and saved mostly in Application Data...Profile folder or in the registry sometimes for Download Managers, example Internet Download Manager.
In a normal Windows installation Mozilla Firefox save the passwords database--signons.sqlite, the key file--key3.db and the certificate--cert8.db used for encryption and decryption in:
C:Documents and Settings%username%Application DataMozillaFirefoxProfiles
Users think their passwords are safe because are long enough, contains special characters, numbers and letters and are stored in an encrypted database, but the main problem is the hacker who has access to the whole storage system of the computer, can download the whole browser Profile folder with key, certificate and signons database files, and decrypt the passwords extremely easy in their computers. So, programs as Firepassword, though an useful program, can be used in criminal activities as decrypting and stealing Mozilla Firefox saved passwords.
The same with premium file hosting accounts that can be easy stolen reading the registry keys and values where the Download Managers save the passwords, it does not matter encrypted or not. In fact, a single email password stolen is enough for the hacker, he can request in the randomly picked sites (rapidshare.com, hotfile.com, paypal.com and other sites of interest) the "Forgotten password" and often they find active accounts of the victim, accessing these other accounts by the hacker beeing a piece of cake after they found the right password and username. Using these methods the privacy is gone and the hacker can access banking sites or make online transactions very easy, using for example your paypal account and quickly deleting the confirmation email received from Paypal after the finish of the transaction and the victims will not be aware of what is happening--they will find about the fraudulous transactions from the monthly Bank Report of Activity, when is too late.
To prevent all these troubles it's recommended to NOT use the saving passwords browser facility. Using a trojan an hacker can monitor in real time your computer, your webcam, your running processes and can kill them (for example an antivirus), can make screenshots, can use your computer for sending spam, can delete your entire harddisk, he will own your computer in a few words.
A trojan can bypass the traditional signature based detection using an executables crypter. Crypters are programs that obfuscate, encrypt the trojan body and then attach a small stub to the new resulting executable with the decryption role. The trojans are encrypted using passwords and different encryption algorithms as DES, Blowfish, AES (Rijndael), RC4, GOST or Twofish. The stub, which has appended also the password used for encryption, decrypt and run in RAM memory the trojan, thus very often avoiding the AntiVirus detection.
When installing, the trojan inject itself in the default browser process or Instant Messenger process but any other "Host" process can be choosen by the hacker at the trojan building time. Also the hacker can choose any name for the trojan or any icon, can choose at what IP it connects and port used, between 0 and 65536. Very often we can read in security forums that a trojan has a certain name for his executable, or drop in Temporary folder a file with a name but this name is totally random one, chosen by the hacker. Also the installation folder can be Temporary folder, System folder, Application Data folder or any other folder. Details about what the trojan does, what name has or what registry value it write to the harddisk are worthless, because these variables always differ from infection to infection.
Very often the trojans uses reverse connections for their communications, thus they can bypass easily a strong firewall and even the communications are encrypted using for example the Camellia algorithm and a key, so sniffing the traffic will not reveal very much about the kind of the traffic. Also the trojans using different methods as written in the registry in the StartUp keys or in the StartUp files or folder, wants to be assured they will run again at System StartUp time--Boot time. For example registry keys which run a program at computer boot:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
But the registry keys that cause programs to run each time that a user logs on, are many, many more and monitoring registry keys by the AntiViruses often gives NO results. The only way to prevent the computer infections with trojans or other malicious code, is to download programs only from trusted sources, to run an up-to-date AntiVirus, and to scan with a multi-engine online scanning service.
Another subcategories of the trojans are Droppers and Downloaders.
Droppers are trojans containing other malicious programs inside. Once the trojan is installed it will decompress and run secretly his payload. There is a lot of online advertisement companies that use Trojan-Droppers to silently drop their adware or spyware in the compromised systems. By dropping and decompressing these malicious programs directly in memory and running them, antiviruses fail to detect them on the harddisk. To avoid resources consumption, the antiviruses use a lot for scanning harddisk operations like read or write on it, and not so much RAM memory operations so decrypting a spyware directly in memory is often used by malware creators.
Downloaders are tiny trojans, but very used by the hackers. Their goal is to download from a site one or more files and execute them. It's very difficult for AntiViruses to detect them, because their operations are only a few, they connect to a site, download a file, sometimes change his extension to.exe because the downloaded file can be a false.jpg or.gif or.mp3 file and execute it. Of course the downloaded files are always malicious codes, trojans, worms or spyware. To prevent these computer infections, it's recommended to use a firewall or a program for monitoring the Network activity.

What is the Google Redirect Virus and What is a Hosts File?

A redirect virus will redirect your web browser to a different website, Instead of where you wanted it to go.
Many times this is to send you to a website with advertising in order to get you to purchase something. Other time it may be to send you to a fake internet banking site to try to get your account information.
The redirect malware or virus will usually modify a file on your computer that is called the "hosts" file
Before we discuss what the hosts file is. I want to explain something about how you get to a website with your web browser.
There are a few popular web browsers today some are Internet Explorer also referred to as IE there is FireFox, Google Chrome, and also Safari. There are more available but these seems to be the ones that I see people using the most.
First of all a website has a numeric address, similar to a phone number or a street address.
So for instance Google has an address of 208.69.32.231 (referred to as IP address) you could type that into the address bar of your web browser and it would take you to Google. The problem is that trying to remember numbers is much more difficult for humans, so we use names.
When you request a website by name the first time your computer looks at the hosts file to see if it is listed there, usually there are no entries in the hosts file. If there is a entry for google.com with ANY IP address your computer will send you to THAT IP address even if it is not an address that belongs to Google.
When there is no entry for Google or the website you want to go to the computer will contact a domain name server (DNS) to see what the numeric address is of the website.
It learns that Google = 208.69.32.231 and the computer then displays the website you were looking for that resides at the particular address.
The redirect virus creates an entry for the Google site or any website and adds a fake IP address or an IP address that belongs to a different website. When you want to go to that particular site your computer will go to the fake/incorrect IP address that is in the hosts file.
So to fix this you first need to scan the computer and also fix the hosts file.
The hosts file can also be used to help protect you from bad websites. If you had a list of all the bad websites in the world, you could enter them into the hosts file and use the IP address of 127.0.0.1
The entry would look like this
badwebsitename 127.0.0.1
Then if you or someone using your computer tried to go to one of the bad websites listed in your computers hosts file, the web browser would display a error page that basically says the page cannot be displayed.
So you may wonder what is 127.0.0.1 or where is 127.0.0.1 Simple answer, it is your own computer.
Its called a loop back address.
So since there is not a website running on your computers loop-back address you get the page cannot be displayed error message, and that is much better then going to a website that has viruses or malware on it.
There are websites that maintain a hosts file with a list of well known bad Websites. If you replace your hosts file with it, you can keep your system safer from malware.
There are other types of viruses that can cause a redirect, some can actually change the setting in your router and it will send you to a bad DNS server.
Then the "poisoned" DNS server will redirect you. So you may think the problem lies within the computer but it may also be that your router was affected by a virus.

Reset the Windows Hosts File

Windows is the most widely used Operating System available today. New versions of Windows come out regularly, and many users prefer it them over other operating systems because of their usability, high performance and attractive layout. In the words of Microsoft itself, using Windows is 'an Experience'. Windows is a complex operating system which contains a large number of different features and utilities. It also contains a certain amount of security loopholes that malware developers use to enter the system and steal information, damage files and folders and cause other forms of havoc.
The Windows Hosts File is one such Windows utility which hackers and malware use to enter the system of a user and cause damage. This file contains the details of the hosts, or servers, that the user has visited when browsing the internet. In effect, it is a mapping of IP addresses of the hosts to their web addresses. The Windows Hosts file may contain a large number of such mappings. When a malware application corrupts this file, it will affect the user's internet experience. This may cause the user's web browser to be redirected to unwanted websites whenever the user attempts to browse the internet. As this is an unwanted and dangerous occurrence, we will discuss how to reset the Windows Hosts file and prevent the browser from being redirected.
To reset the hosts file manually, open the Run Program dialog box by holding R along with the Windows Key. Here, type %system root% \system32\drivers\etc and click on OK. This will give you a folder listing of the Windows folder. Here you will find a file named hosts, rename it to hosts.bak. Now you must create a new hosts file. Create a new Text Document with the name of 'hosts' (NOT hosts.txt, just hosts) in the folder. Open the file using Notepad, and copy the following text into it:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
Now you must save and close the file. This is how to reset the Windows Hosts file manually. If you want to do it automatically, you can download and use the Microsoft hosts reset tool which is a safe and reliable solution. Now that you have full knowledge on how to reset the Windows Hosts file, you can protect yourself from annoying browser redirects.
Its very easy to reset
